How to use WASHPOINT washing machines and dryers video transcript
Transcript for the video showing how to use the WASHPOINT washing machines and dryers
(Music is playing as we watch student Annie sat on the floor of a WASHPOINT laundry room sorting out her clothes, loading them into a washing machine, selecting a washing programme.)
(We now see Annie outside, in front of a student residence building.)
Annie: In this video, I’m going to show you how to use the laundry machines on campus correctly and give you a few tips along the way.
(As she walks off screen, the text, how to wash with WASHPOINT by WASHCO, appears on screen.)
(We see Annie sat outside the student residence building, looking at her mobile phone. To the right is an image of the online machine availability viewer showing green and yellow icons representing the washing machines and tumble dryers and whether they are in use or available to use. Below is text directing the viewer to the WASHPOINT website, www.washpoint.uk.)
Annie: WASHPOINT have a handy online checker so you can see when machines are free and avoid unnecessary trips to the launderette.
(We see Annie stand up and walk away as a QR code and text, www.washpoint.uk, appear on screen.)
Annie: Just scan the QR code in the laundry to check availability and even set an alert to be notified when your cycle is finished.
(We now see a row of washing machines in the launderette, and Annie walks in.)
(Annie sits on the floor and empties her laundry bag on the floor in front of one of the washing machines.)
Annie: Start by making sure you sort your washing to make sure you don’t mix up your white and coloured clothes.
(We see Annie separating her clothes into two piles, one for white clothes and one for black clothes.)
(We see Annie pick up a white sock from the black clothes pile and frown. She then throws the sock to the camera.)
Annie: Whoops, wrong pile.
(Now we see Annie looking at a black jacket pocket. She then puts her hand in the pocket and takes out four coins.)
Annie: Now is also a good time to check your pockets to make sure there’s nothing in them.
(We now see Annie look at the care label on one of her clothes.)
Annie: Check the label on your clothes to make sure you choose the most suitable programme and avoid damaging them.
(We now see a close-up of the care label and animation on screen circles the wash at or below 30 °C icon on the label with text saying wash at 30 °C appearing on screen. More text appears at the bottom of the screen: More information available at: www.washpoint.uk/resources.)
Annie: Washing at 30° not only uses less energy, but your clothes will love it too and last longer.
(The camera then shows the front of a washing machine where a sticker is placed. The sticker reads: Sopa and fabric conditioner included in your wash. Text at the bottom of the screen says: More information available at: www.washpoint.uk/resources.)
Annie: If you see this sign on your machine, then there’s no need to add any detergent or fabric conditioner. The machine will add it for you.
(The camera then shows the front of another washing machine, where a sticker is placed. The sticker reads: Please add detergent and fabric conditioner directly to the drum. Text at the bottom of the screen says: More information available at: www.washpoint.uk/resources.)
Annie: But if you see this sign on the machine, then you will need to add some directly into the drum before loading your clothes.
(We see Annie through a washing machine door. The camera films from the machine drum as Annie opens the door from the outside and leans closer to the camera.)
Annie: Once you’re happy with the cycle you want to select, make sure the drum is empty and put your washing in.
(We now see Annie load the washing machine with her black clothes.)
(We see the inside of the drum with Annie’s black clothes inside. She puts her hand in the drum and moves it from side to side to show the level at which the drum should be loaded to avoid overloading the machine.)
Annie: But don’t cram the drum full of your washing, otherwise it won’t be able to circulate and wash properly. Fill it 3/4 full. If there’s space to move your hand above your washing, you’re all good.
(We see the washing machine door being closed by Annie’s hand.)
Annie: Make sure you close the door properly, otherwise the cycle won’t start.
(We see the washing machine display panel with all the programme options, the digital display and the start button.)
(We see Annie’s finger press the 30 °C button.)
Annie: Make sure you pick the right cycle for your clothes.
(We see the Nayax payment terminal.)
(We see Annie’s finger pressing the Eco option and paying using her mobile phone.)
Annie: Payment couldn’t be easier. Pay with your phone, debit, or credit card.
(We see Annie facing the camera in the launderette.)
(We see Annie leaning towards the washing machine and pressing the start button on the display panel.)
Annie: And it’s time to press start.
(We see Annie sitting at a table looking at her mobile phone. To the left of the screen is an image of the machine availability viewer showing icons of four tumble dryers and four washing machines.)
Annie: Don’t forget, you can track the status of your wash. And it’s all done. All clean.
(We see Annie smile and get up from her seat.)
(We see Annie walk back into the launderette.)
Annie: Now it’s time to dry them.
(We see a close-up of another care label. Animation on screen highlights the do not tumble dry icon on the label as text appears saying: Do not tumble dry.)
Annie: Have a quick check of your labels again, as some of your clothes may not be suitable for tumble drying.
(We see Annie open a tumble dryer door and turn to the camera. She then reaches inside the drum with her hand and pulls out a white sock.)
Annie: Check the drum of the machine to make sure that nothing has been left by the previous person.
(We now see inside the tumble dryer drum and lint filter at the front. Lint is visible in the filter.)
(We see Annie put her hand inside the filter and remove the lint.)
Annie: And clean the dryer lint filter, too. This keeps the machine working as it should and saves on energy use, too.
(We now see Annie load the tumble dryer from inside the drum.)
(We see Annie insert her hand inside the drum and move it across the top of the load to indicate that the drum is not overloaded.)
Annie: You can now load the drum, but only load the machine up to 3/4 full. If you put too much in, your washing won’t dry properly.
(We see Annie’s finger select the Medium Temp button on the tumble dryer display.)
Annie: Select your temperature.
(We see Annie press the Dry option on the payment terminal and use her mobile phone to pay.)
(We see Annie press the Start button on the tumble dryer display panel.)
Annie: Like before, you now need to pay with your phone, debit, or credit card, and press start.
(We see Annie turn to the camera as she stands in the laundry.)
Annie: It’s as simple as that.
(We see a blurry image of the outside of a university residence building with overlaid text and a QR code. The text reads: For more resources to report a fault or request a refund, visit the WASHPOINT website by scanning the QR code available in the Launderette.)
