How to use WASHPOINT washing machines and dryers video transcript

Transcript for the video showing how to use the WASHPOINT Miele washing machines and dryers

(Music is playing as we see images of the launderette.)

(Music continues as we see student, Andre, rummage through a laundry basket and happily throw an item of clothing in the washing machine. He then closes the door, and presses start on the machine digital display.)

(We now see Andre through the launderette window as he walks into the room carrying a laundry basket. The text, how to wash with WASHPOINT by WASHCO, appears in the window.)

(We see Andre talk to the camera while standing in the launderette in front of a row of tumble dryers.)

Andre: In this video, I’m going to show you how to use the laundry machines on campus correctly and give you a few tips along the way.

(We see Andre’s mobile phone as he opens the WASHPOINT by WASHCO app.)

Andre: You can manage your laundry on the go using the WASHPOINT BY WASHCO app.

(We see Andre walk around a row of washing machines carrying a laundry basket.)

(The camera closes in on the front of the washing machine to show a sticker. The sticker reads: Detergent is included. Do not add detergent to this machine.)

Andre: If you see this sign on your machine, then there’s no need to add any detergent or fabric softener, the machine will add it for you.

(The screen changes to show a different sticker. The sticker reads: Detergent not included. Please add detergent directly to the machine drum.)

(We see Andre throw a detergent pod into the machine drum.)

Andre: But, if you see this sign on the machine, then you will need to add some directly into the drum before loading your clothes.

(We see Andre through a closed washing machine door. The camera films from the inside of the machine as Andre opens the door from the outside and leans closer to the camera.)

Andre: Once you’ve picked your machine, make sure the drum is empty.

(We see the empty washing machine drum.)

(We see Andre speaking at the camera and throwing an item of clothing inside the drum as he smiles.)

Andre: Time to put your washing in.

(We see Andre in front of the open washing machine taking clothes out of his laundry basket.)

Andre: Make sure to sort your washing so you don’t mix your whites with your coloured clothes.

(We see Andre put a black item of clothing into the machine drum.)

(We now see Andre take a white sock out of the machine drum and throw it at the camera.)

Andre: Whoops, wrong pile.

(We see Andre look through the pocket of a pair of jeans and take out two coins and a key.)

Andre: Now’s also a good time to check your pockets to make sure there’s nothing in them.

(We now see Andre look at the care label on one of his clothes.)

Andre: Check the care label on your clothes to make sure you choose the most suitable programme and avoid damaging them.

(We now see a close-up of the care label and animation on screen circles the wash at or below 30 °C icon on the label with text saying wash at 30 °C appearing on screen. More text appears at the bottom of the screen: More information available at: www.washpoint.uk/resources.)

Andre: Washing at 30 degrees not only uses less energy, but your clothes will love it too and last longer.

(We see the washing machine digital display with the 30-degree programme selected.)

(We see the inside of the laundry basket with Andre taking the clothes out and into the washing machine drum.)

Andre: But don’t cram the drum full of your washing, otherwise it won’t be able to circulate and wash properly.

(We see the inside of the drum with clothes inside.)

(We see Andre move his hand above his clothes in the drum to indicate that the drum is not overloaded.)

Andre: Fill it three-quarters full. If there is space to move your hand above your washing, you’re all good.

(We see Andre close the washing machine door.)

Andre: Make sure you close the door properly, otherwise the cycle won’t start.

(We see the washing machine digital display and Andre selects the 30 degrees, high spin option and presses start.)

Andre: Select the programme you want and press start.

(We see the washing machine digital display change to say, Door locked. Programme will start after payment.)

(We see Andre walk to the launderette payment kiosk and confirm his selection on the touchscreen.)

(We see Andre using his mobile phone on the Nayax payment terminal to pay.)

Andre: After selecting the programme and pressing start on the machine, you need to go to the kiosk and follow the step-by-step process on screen before proceeding to payment.

(We see Andre’s mobile phone screen with the WASHPOINT by WASHCO app open. It shows the machine availability viewer with washer 2 in use.)

Andre: You can check the app to see if your wash is complete…

(We see the machine availability viewer change to indicate that washer 2 is done.)

(We see Andre sat on a sofa, smiling at his phone and getting up.)

Andre:  …and it’s all done.

(We see Andre open the washing machine door and reach inside the drum to grab his wet clothes.)

(We see the Dry label on the tumble dryer.)

Andre: Now it’s time to dry them.

(We see Andre open the tumble dryer door)

Andre: Check the drum of the machine to make sure nothing has been left by the previous person.

(We see Andre remove a colourful sock from the tumble dryer drum and smile at the camera.)

(We see the care label of another item of clothing. Animation on screen highlights the do not tumble dry icon on the label as text appears saying: Do not tumble dry.)

Andre: Have a quick check of your labels again, as some of your clothes may not be suitable for tumble drying.

(We see Andre push open the tumble dryer lint filter flap and remove the filter.)

Andre: And clean the dryer lint filter too.

(We see Andre remove the lint filter handle and clean the filter by removing the lint and putting it in a bin.)

Andre: This keeps the machine working as it should and saves on energy use.

(We see Andre load the tumble dryer with his wet clothes.)

Andre: You can now load the drum.

(We see Andre move his hand above his clothes in the drum to indicate that the drum is not overloaded.)

Andre: Only fill it up to three-quarters full. Like washing, if you put too much in your clothes won’t dry properly.

(We see the tumble dryer door close.)

(We see Andre select the Low temp programme on the tumble dryer digital display before pressing start.)

Andre: Select your temperature and press start.

(We see the tumble dryer digital display change to say: Programme will start after payment.)

(We see Andre using the digital kiosk to confirm his selection and use his mobile phone tp pay on the Nayax terminal.)

Andre: Just like before, you now need to pay using your phone, debit or credit card.

(We see the tumble dryer digital display showing: Programme has started and change to show: Time left: 1:00h.)

Andre: It’s as simple as that!

(We see a blurry image of a row of washing machines in the launderette with text and a QR code on top. The text reads: For more resources, to report a fault, or request a refund, visit the WASHPOINT website by scanning the QR code available in the launderette.

Andre:  For more resources, to report a fault, or request a refund, visit the WASHPOINT website by scanning the QR code available in the launderette or download the WASHPOINT by WASHCO app.

(Music continues playing until the end of the video.)
